On saturday I dragged myself and my better half out of bed at a very unearthly hour to go walking. We walked 5km around the palm resort – rugy club thingy place for the breast cancer event.
It was a good turnout, with a few weirdo’s and lots of hyper people milling about in between.

All in all it was a nice morning, and more importantly for a very worthy cause. I’ve been reading the blog of an expat American woman in Saudi Arabia who has often spoken of the importance of regular self examination and mamograms. Interestingly she talks of how this subject needs to be addressed more openly within the Arab community, that it needs to be spoken about, and brought to the forefront.
I’m not sure what the approach is here in the UAE, but I only hope it is something women are more than aware of. It is no doubt a daunting issue to think about, but it is nevertheless very real.
There is a lot of information available and this is just one site which provides valuable information.
